Camping Take Two

We went camping during the May Long Weekend.  We had a lot of fun, we played mini-golf, the girls went swimming in the pool. And although the weather wasn’t great, it didn’t really matter – the pool was indoor (not heated) and the girls spent hours there. We wore sweaters and used blankets and the trailer has a furnace.  The only issue we had was in the middle of the last night. Abby got very sick. We were happy to get home the next day so she could rest and use a proper bathroom. Poor thing.

This weekend we tried again. We went to Woodlawn - Boundary Dam Campground.  It was kind of a last minute trip. Mark looked at the forecast and saw that it was going to be hot. We might as well go somewhere instead of baking in the heat at home. A trip to the lake sounded like a great idea – plus the trailer has A/C!

When we got there the winds were gusting over 70 Km. We had to forgo a fire so I cooked hotdogs in the trailer.

We went for a short walk around the campsite and down to the beach. The girls said that the water was cold. We went back to the trailer and watched The Sandlot.

The morning started off a little slow. We had some breakfast as we watched the rain come down.  Thankfully it didn’t last long. We took a short walk to check out the beach (and hid under a tree while the rain decided to go again). We got to the beach and the clouds blew away. The sun warmed us up so we went back to the trailer to get the girls in their bathing suits. They had so much fun at the beach.

We came back for a quick lunch which we were able to cook over the fire!!

Then it was back to the beach. This time Mark and I went in too!! It felt so nice to cool off. The wind was strong but it felt nice.

We didn’t stay too long - just enough to get a good tan and then we went back to the camper. The girls watched some Corner Gas and Mark and I fell asleep. When we woke up we walked over to the store and bought some ice cream.

Unfortunately it seems that we worked the A/C too hard because it stopped working by supper time. We still managed to have a yummy meal although we were a bit warm.

We ran to town to watch the Grad Parade and then it was back to the campsite for a couple s’mores. The chocolate cookies were melted but Izzy said that it was still good.

By this time we were exhausted, sweating and ready to go home. Since we were only 15 minutes away we decided to pack up and head home. The shower at home sure felt nice and we were able to spend a comfortable night in our own beds with the A/C blasting.

So it seems that we can only go camping for one night before all hell breaks loose. Maybe one day we’ll be able to go and no one gets sick and nothing breaks down. Third time a charm?
