Watching the Skies!
I have been reminded that it has been awhile since I last posted, so here goes...
Mark and I went fishing yesterday. We were bored and it was hot, so we loaded up the boat and the dog and went for a ride. We only caught jack. But we didn't really care anyway. On the boat ride to the fishing spot we saw something amazing. A mother bald eagle was teaching her young one to fly. You could tell it wasn't mature yet because the colouring wasn't the same as the adult. They were soaring above us and circling around. They seemed to follow us for a little while then continued their lesson. On the way back, we met up with the parents. They too seemed to follow us for a bit before backing off and the one landed in a tree. It was amazing to watch them get so close. They are so big yet so graceful. And it was great to a young one learning how to take over the skies. After we gave up fishing, we went for a short swim in the lake. We forgot the sunscreen and I burnt the tops of my feet. I had to launch the boat because the boat launch was too shallow and I just didn't put my shoes and socks back on and fished all afternoon with bare feet. It was a lot of fun but I'm paying for it now!
Work is going okay now. Most of the guys are out of the office so it's nice and quiet. They only bad thing is always telling people they have to wait for service. I'm hoping to find another job soon as I don't know how much longer this job is going to last. I'm most likely going to get cut to half time if not laid off entirely. But they haven't told us anything yet so I just show up every day.
Not much else to report. I've been practising, but no Foggy Mountain Breakdown yet. The ladies want me to play in church so I'm going through my music to see if there is anything easy enough for me to play. My mandolin needs to get fixed so hopefully that can get done when we're down South.
