Birthday Week from Hell
What a week it has been. What a week it was supposed to be. Abby turned five on Tuesday and instead of enjoying the day doing all her favourite things, she spent the day running to the bathroom, throwing up whatever food she managed to eat. She started feeling better just around the time I started to feel sick. That night, the girls slept well while I tossed and turned alternating between freezing and sweating and Mark wore his own path to the bathroom. When the morning (finally) came around, Abby was feeling better, I was feeling somewhat on the mend and Mark called in sick. Mark and I basically sat around all day, not eating while Isabelle played, blissfully ignorant of all the sickness around her. But by the evening, I was feeling worse and Abby hadn't improved. So we skipped clubs. Yesterday, I woke feeling back to normal. So I decided to clean all the mess from the last couple days. Then I got really weak and had to lay down. But after some lunch, and the first real supper since Monday, I was all better. And I was sure that everybody was back to good health. Until last night when Abby spent a good chunk of the night in the bathroom. Unwilling to push her again, I called the school and told them she was sick. Tomorrow was supposed to be her big birthday party at the pool. Her first party with all her friends. I had to call the pool, the cake and all the people invited and reschedule the party for a couple weeks. It can still be a good birthday party even if it's a couple weeks late, right?
I feel so bad for her. She was so excited for her party and instead, she's sick. But maybe this way, some of the kids who couldn't make it to the party can come now. Better late than never. So we'll all take it easy today. Hopefully this flu will go away and stay away.
