A Camping We Will Go!
We loaded up the Model Y with everything that would fit (who said that Tetris was a waste a time) and headed out to Oungre Memorial Park. We weren’t even out of Estevan before I remembered at least two things that I forgot to pack. Luckily we were camping with my husband’s parents so they had what we didn’t.
It didn’t take us long to set up our campsite and get settled in.
Then it was time for some mini golf.
Hot dogs for supper!!
We had a decent sleep in the tent (as good as can be expected. The dog found a nice spot snuggled in with us. The next morning we had coffee over the camp stove. Not too shabby. Then we went mini golfing again and bought a day pass for the girls so they could go golfing and swimming as much as they wanted to. And they did.
Lunch was pizza over the fire.
Then the girls went swimming for 3 hours in the pool. Once they were done that and changed they went to play another round of mini golf. They were very tired that night. They weren’t the only ones.
For supper we had hamburgers and stew.
And for dessert… camp pies!! Pie filling between two pieces of bread toasted over the fire. Very yummy!
And of course we had s’mores.
After supper the girls went for another quick swim before bed. A thunderstorm rolled through overnight. It poured rain and there was lots of thunder and lightning but we were fine.

This morning we had an easy breakfast then packed up. We left the campsite by 9 am and we’re home before 10 am.
It was a really nice few days. A great way to practice our camping skills without going too far and a great way for the girls to spend some quality time with their grandparents. I think we will visit some other campsites around the province. We learned a few things too. Like if we were to do this on a regular basis and go farther we either need to buy a roof rack or buy groceries along the way. The Tesla is great but it can only hold so much stuff. And we have so much stuff! Also, we would need to buy ice or get an electric cooler. It was so hot that our ice packs could keep up and the coolers became mainly storage devices instead of working at keeping anything cold. Luckily the in-laws brought their RV and could refreeze our ice packs for us and kept our milk in their fridge for us.
So for our trial run I like to think it went very smoothly and we all had lots of fun. And we are all now very tired. Can’t ask for much more than that!!
