Thanksgiving Meal!

I am exhausted. I don't know whether it was the wine or the turkey but I'm ready for bed. I started at 2:15 today and finally, around 5:30 supper was ready. The turkey took a bit longer than I thought but it was worth it. I made the works! Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, salad, fresh bread, cherry cheesecake, gravy, corn, jello. I think that was it. I was going to open a can of cranberry sauce but I discovered that Mark doesn't like it so I'll save it for when I have company that likes it. Yeah, so everything turned out really well. I did have a minor breakdown when I put the turkey in. Mark and I both kinda thought that the cover should be on the turkey but the instructions clearly said not to. So I phoned my Mom, but she wasn't home. Dad told me to call my sister but she was home either so I had to do it myself. So I followed the instructions and when it turned brown, I put tin foil over it. And man, was it ever good! So juicy! Because the turkey took so long, the corn got a little cold and the stuffing dried up a bit but all in all, it was a great meal. Now I can relax and enjoy the rest of the weekend. I still have half a pumpkin pie, and whole carmel apple pie and cherry cheesecake. And lots and lots of left-overs. Oh well, it'll be fine!

One note: Mark had never had jello with turkey and didn't know the tradition of always having jello. Well, as soon as I took a slurp of it, I closed my eyes and I was at the farm with 20 members of my family sitting at a long table beside my cousins. Mark said that he had those feelings too. Nearly made me cry.

P.S. Mark said that I make the third best turkey meal! (That's the highest compliment that he could give me) Whoo-hoo!

I can't believe you made an entire turkey for the two of you. You are ambitious. Also, i think this is from a different post, but I agree that you need a new dress for the Phantom of the Opera.
