One Down

Abby had her first birthday party yesterday. And I have to say it was a great success. But what a day!!

Thursday was her real birthday. I had the day off so we spent the day together. We had our first Mom and Kids Bible Study in the afternoon. It was kinda weird because it was our first since the pastor's wife moved away. But we're committed to continuing it. I've already talked to my boss and requested Thursday afternoons off if possible, since she makes my schedule anyway. She's very accommodating. I have to work next week but that's because we have a very busy court day the day before and will have loads of paperwork to do afterwards. So the afternoon went really well. The other moms knew it was Abby's birthday so they all got her gifts. She got lots of great toys she can play with now.

Friday morning I dropped Abby off a the sitter I just worked in the morning there was some training to do on a computer program. They updated it and added a lot of new features while I was away. The morning flew by - loads of information to process. My brain was exhausted by 10:00 a.m. I picked up Abby - she had just finished lunch with her friends. She hadn't napped yet so I wasn't surprised when she fell asleep on the ride home. I was surprised however, when she slept until 2:45!! But it gave me a chance to clean the house for the party in the evening. When she finally woke up, we raced around town to run the final errands and picked up the birthday cake. We got home home and decorated. Pretty soon, people started to show up. We had invited one couple and their two daughter and another couple and their one daughter. All the girls got along really well and they entertained Abby very nicely. We had hamburgers and hot dogs and birthday cake. I got some great shots of Abby eating cake. However, I was so consumed with lighting the candle, getting the video camera set and making sure that everything looked good that I totally forgot to take a picture of the cakes. Man am I ever ticked about that. I did find a picture of it on the Internet so I can put something in my scrapbook. I'll just have to photo shop the name out.
So everyone had a good time, Abby really enjoyed the cake. I'm glad she only gets cake once I year thought. She fell asleep great but did not stay asleep. I was up with her from 1:30-3 and then Mark took over and was up until 4:30. the again after 5 and I think maybe once more after that but I can't be sure. We're a little tired today. But we got some yard work down. Abby is on her second nap of the day. She needs it.

Here's some more pictures from the party...

Those are great photos!! I'm so glad we got together--it was a fabulous, relaxing, glorious way to spend a Friday evening and Abby is priceless to watch. I love babies!! I just love watching what their next move or reaction will be. And what makes me happier is that my girls were smitten with your little one! A great date all around. I give it 5 stars!
