A Tornado of A Week
And another one begins...
Before I forget, I want to thank everyone for their encouragement about the talking issue. It's tough trying to balance your own instincts against what the "experts" say. But I learned a few things that have helped and I'm not so worried about it. When we get to Estevan, I'll take her to the Public Health people just as a way to introduce ourselves. But thank you for your support everyone!
Let's see if I can remember what all happened last week.
Monday: was pretty ordinary, except Mark had a staff BBQ so he went to that and Abby and stayed home and had mac n' cheese. Sure, not as tasty as BBQ but it was indoors (raining that day) and it's Abby favourite.
Tuesday: was our only day in the week that we had nothing on. So we made the most of it and relaxed. I did work but it was only in the office and there wasn't too much to do.
Wednesday: Mark and another friend went out to Jan Lake to meet up with another friend and his dad who were staying there. They left at 4:00 pm so Mark dropped off the truck for me at work so I could get home and he and his friend drove out. I had court that day so I wasn't sure when I was going to be done. Luckily we had an awesome babysitter who didn't mind taking care of Abby a little later than usual. And by later than usual I mean, usually Mark will pick up Abby just after 4 when he gets off work. Then he comes around for me when I'm done at 4:30. However, since he had a really really busy day of court, I did not pick up Abby until 6:20pm. By the time I had given her her supper, it was only 30 minutes until snack and bath time. I tried to stretch that time as much as I could but she had played so much with all the other little kids that she was so tired and ready for bed. I went to bed not too much later than she did. Mark didn't get home until 11:45. Apparently he had the best day ever of fishing. They caught their limits in an hour then spent the rest of the time schooling the American tourist. He said they were just circling their boat trying to get their secret or get the fish they were catching. I guess when you got it, you got it. I think it's funny how these people come so far and spend so much money and can't catch anything and the locals catch all the fish!!
Thursday: My last day of work. Sigh. We had court again. It wasn't supposed to be as long as yesterday and I guess it wasn't...5:00. But my oh my, I was beat!! And so was the judge and the Crown. We were all trying desperately not to fall asleep. It was kinda bittersweet. One of the defense lawyers stood up when all his matters were done (you have to ask permission to leave if you're done. You can't just get up and go) and said some nice things about me and working with me) It meant a lot coming form him because kinda gruff and mean looking. Then the judge said a few things too. I feel like ordering a transcript of that day to frame it!! So after that day was done, Mark came in with Abby and got to meet the Judge. That was so nice. I've talked so much about her that I figured he should meet her!
Friday: I didn't work (tee hee). So I got some errands done. That evening was my Stampin' Up club and it was the last one of the year. I ended up getting more than I had planned but I was the Hostess so I got major discounts. I didn't get home until after 10:30. A good night.
Saturday: The staff golf tournament. Beautiful weather for it. I only missed the ball twice and I actually hit it pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised with myself. It was a lot of fun. No one cared about the score, we were all just there to have fun and hang out. It was a long day but it was fun. Abby behaved herself with babysitter so that was a bonus!
Sunday: Before church, Abby was playing on the table. She normally really good but she must have stumbled and she fell straight off. She fine a couple minutes later. In the afternoon, we had a Band windup party. Lots of fun. But Abby fell off the chair she was standing on to eat supper. What a day for her! We had someone come and take Dee Dee for the day to see if she would take her. But I guess her other dog doesn't like Deeds so it didn't work out. Hopefully we can find someone else who can take her and give her a good home!
Monday: Today! I'm looking after another little girl today. We already went to the park. It is really hot today. Much hotter than the temp would indicate. Must be humid. I wore jeans to the park and regretted it a lot. This afternoon - if the weather holds - we're running through the sprinklers. They are calling for thunderstorms this afternoon so we'll see. The smelter is really bad right now. It's hanging over the town, really hazy. Oh well. It's getting shut down Thursday night so after that, no more haze, no more smoke, no more pollution. Yeah!
