In the News or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Not Read the Comments

Our local media has done a couple stories on the new electric car charger that was recently updated at Peavey Mart.

This was something that we have been eagerly awaiting for quite some time. At least by us! Our town is in the heart of oil and gas country and as such, any move away from those resources seems like a bitter betrayal.  My husband has been brave enough to be the voice of electric vehicles here in the Southeast and it hasn’t been easy.  He’s had to wade through some pretty ignorant comments on Facebook but he is up for the challenge. Although I do have to say that many of the comments were pretty decent and tame by typical standards.  And he did mention on more than one occasion that oil isn’t going anywhere – it’s in our phones, our plastics, most of the products we use – but it doesn’t have to fuel our vehicles.  Plus it’s really nice not having to fuel up every other week or so! Now we just need more towns and cities to install chargers.

Speaking of electric vehicles, we are without ours for the time being.  There seems to an issue with many of the Model Ys and their heaters.  The seat warmers work great but the vents blow cold air! We ended up sending it off to Saskatoon for repairs (thank heavens for warranty!) and I’m now driving a rental. It’s a little less handy – I have to remember to turn it on and off, I have to keep an eye on the fuel gauge and I forgot to grab the garage door opener from the Model Y so now I have to run into the garage, open the door, run back to the car in order to drive in.  Lesson learned.  I can’t wait to get my car back!!
