Here's the recap from the Weekend Tour of the Flin Flon Community Choir.

On Thursday, we left the Community Centre on the bus for The Pas. When we got there, I was blown away by the church. It's the Catholic Church and it's beautiful. I joked to one of my friends (the leader of the Ladies Bible Study) that Catholic Cathedrals make me want to convert to Catholicism. The church had amazing acoustics and everyone sounded amazing.

Highlights: The Soprano from The Pas. I didn't know she had such an amazing voice.

The Trumpet Shall Sound. We didn't have a trumpet player, just a French Horn player so the soloist sang The French Horn Shall Sound for the first line. Then he went back to the right words.

The Soloists Dustin and Luz. (Pronounced Luth as in Ruth but with an L) Everyone was captivated by her voice. If you ever get a chance to hear her, do so. Her name is Maria Luz Alvarez. As for Dustin, he is so expressive. His one song Comfort Ye is haunting.

Then on Friday I got ready for the arrival of my parents. They arrived a bit before supper so we had a good visit and then it was time to go. That night was the Parade of Lights and since we were seated by the window, we got to see it. After supper, I went to get ready at the Community Centre and Mark and my parents went to the Orange Toad for a coffee. everyone was very impressed with the performance. Even Mark liked it. I was worried he might be bored but he said that it was very good. One of the ladies in the choir asked how Mark liked it because her husband was there and he thought it was long. He also saw Mark there and was joking if he was there on his own free will.

Saturday: Mom and Dad dropped me off at the Community Centre around 9:30 and I got on the bus for Thompson. We had a good drive there and stopped at Pisew Falls. I took some pictures. We had to take two buses with the amount of people in the Choir. We saw the one bus stopped at the side of the road and wondered why it had stopped. It wasn't until later that we found out that the one soloist forgot his tux in town! Once we got to Thompson, there was some free time so a few of us walked over to the mall. It was so cold. We had supper at A&W. I was so excited to get Onion Rings. Then the bus took us to the high school for the performance. Their theatre is very nice. They have a huge backstage and we got to sit for the entire performance. We sang for our choruses but otherwise, we could sit and enjoy the show. All the other shows, we had to stand for the whole 2 1/2 hr show. It's exhausting. After that show, we had a reception and then it was time for bed. I didn't sleep very well. My bed-mate tried to cuddle me all night. I eventually had to push her back to her side of the bed. So I was a bit tired the next day.

Snow Lake. When we got there, the high school kids prepared a lunch for us for a fundraising for their Europe Trip. We got ready then ran across the street to the show. You could tell people were very tired. Nerves were a little ragged as we were trying to figure out where to stand. But we made it through. The Tenor soloist almost threw up half way through and someone else got sick but we made it through! After that, they had prepared a hot supper for us. Man oh man, was it ever good. Turkey and stuffing and meatballs and mashed potatoes and veggies and Cesar salad and pie and coleslaw. We were so hungry that we all wolfed it down. Then back on the bus for the last time. We sang Christmas Carols for awhile then it turned into any song you know. After awhile, that died down and I tried to sleep. No such luck. Finally we reached Flin Flon and Mark picked me. I was exhausted. Then on Monday I was still exhausted and today I feel even worse! I have tomorrow off so hopefully I can recover.

Well, what a weekend. I'm beat. I think I'll take the night off and relax. It's the season finale of The Tudors so I'll watch that and then go to bed!
