Surprise!
What a roller coaster week. We started the week off on a good note when Abby did pretty good at her piano lessons. Then it was time to go to Clubs and I didn't think it would be that bad because she loved going last year but ....surprise....It took about 10 minutes, a few escapes and being dragged back and many tears, but I was finally able to sneak off (after one of the teachers held her back). Mark and I ran some errands and got a coffee while she was there. And when we picked her up...surprise...she had a blast and couldn't wait to go next week.
Thursday. We went to the library for Abby's Strorytime. There were only two other kids in her class so that class is going to merge with the other classes (Abby will now go one Tuesday mornings. I didn't want her to go on Tuesdays because her piano lessons are that day too but we'll wok it out). The one little boy in her Storytime class flat out refused to go in. The little girl went in with her mom. And then there was Abby. Surprise. When the teacher called them, Abby told her she'd be right there, she had to put away her toys first. When she was done, she ran right in and I didn't hear from her until she was done.
Then the bad news: Mark got word Friday morning that his grandpa had passed away. The funeral is Tuesday so Mark will be travelling tomorrow with his family to attend. I'm staying home with the girls. I don't think it would be too appropriate to bring them to a funeral since Abby can't sit still all that well and she gets really upset when she sees people crying. I could travel with Mark but that's such a hassle and Mark has his family if he needs support. My dad will come and stay with us so I can still take Abby to her music lessons and give me some help while Mark is away.
The good news: We put the Jimmy up for sale last Saturday. There wasn't a lot of interest (a lot of scammers kept emailing us). Mark put up a flier at school and one of the people who work there offered to take one to SaskPower (where her husband works). On Friday, we get a call from someone who works at SaskPower and he wants to look at the Jimmy. Surprise....he buys it! So on Saturday, after I pick up breakfast at the Farmer's Marker (eggs and bread to go with our bacon) we went and registered the new SUV and cancelled the Jimmy's.
This morning we went to church (for the first time in quite awhile - summer was a wee bit busy). Abby needs somewhere to go during the service. It's too much to ask of her to sit for an hour and a half. This morning was the first Sunday with all their programs running. I discovered...surprise....yesterday that Abby is no longer in Treasure Seekers (where they are gone the whole service) and is now in Caraway Street (dismissed before the sermon). So I was dreading it. Was Abby going to behave for that part of the service where she has to sit and then when she goes, will she flip out like she did on Wednesday or be excited to go like she did on Thursday? The kids were all called to the front and I went with her. She didn't like sitting with them but she stayed. Then they were dismissed and I went with her again. I found her name tag and sat with her with all the rest of the kids. Since it was the first day back to Caraway Street, they just showed a VeggieTales video and announced they were getting them a snack. Here is how it went down:
"Okay Abby, when you get your snack, I'm going to go and sit with Daddy again, okay?"
"Okay" The snack cart comes out.
"Here's my snack!"
"Okay, once you get yours, I'm going to go"
"Okay" She gets her snack.
"I got my snack now Mommy"
"Okay, I'm going to go now"
"Okay" I walk away and as I'm approaching the doors, I hear a little voice call out...
"Bye Mommy!"
Surprise! Oh, and when I got back to Mark, Isabelle was fast asleep on the pew.
