Prime Directive

My biggest worry about nest watching is bothering the mother so much that she abandons her eggs. I don’t think I need to worry about Karen. She defends her nest like no other robin I’ve ever seen. When I get close, she flies off but not too far. Then, she flies straight at me, swoops at me and tries to charge. All the time squawking away!! Then when I do walk away, she follows me to make sure I really am leaving. 

I am a little worried about Mary - her little clutch hasn’t hatched yet. I’m trying to leave them both alone. Karen, so she won’t get so bent out of shape. Mary, so I don’t scare her off.
