Electric Love

What an amazing weekend we just had!! After waiting for what felt like forever (Waiting is Not Easy) we got the call that our Tesla Model Y had arrived in Calgary and was ready for us to come and get it!!!

Friday after work, we drove in to Regina. We stayed overnight at my parent’s house and at 4:45 am, my mom drove us to the airport. We were super excited and kinda stressed. There was so much to worry about! Would the airport security let us take the license plate in our carry-on? Would the flight go smoothly? Would we be able to find the Tesla store? Would there be a bunch of defects on our car? How would we get back? Can we even drive this technological marvel?

Everything went very smoothly with the airport and the flight. No need to worry.

There was another person on our flight who was picking up his new Tesla (his was identical to ours - even the colour). So when we landed, we split a cab to the Tesla store.

We were a bit early so the three of us went to Cravings Market Restaurant for some breakfast. And man was it ever good!!

Then we walked back and it was time to meet our car!!

After a quick tutorial, we hit the road.

Our first stop was in Medicine Hat. The super charger is right next to Starbucks. The car was done charging before we were done our drinks. It cost us just over $8 in electricity. Not too shabby.

The drive was amazing. It was a great opportunity to learn the car. We were able to drive in nearly all different conditions. Through the foothills of Alberta and the prairies. The big city of Calgary and the rural roads. It was sunny and it rained. We drove through the day and into the night.

We even got to see a few other Teslas along the way and met some more at the super chargers. We even saw a truck out delivering more Teslas!!!

We finally got back to my parent’s house (after a short stop to show off the car to my in-laws). And it was straight to bed!!

The next day we met up with others from the Saskatchewan Electric Vehicle Association so they could check our new ride!!

We met at La Macaron in Regina. What a neat little place! It was a little chilly standing in the parking lot explaining all about the car so a friend and I went in to get a coffee to warm up.

So now it’s back to real life. I drove the Y to work today and showed it off to my co-workers. I even gave one a ride during our lunch break. This car will take some getting used to - it’s a big change. But I can’t wait to learn everything about it!!
