Labour Day

Labour Day in Saskatchewan means football. It’s the best weekend of the football season. In a way, even better than Grey Cup because your team is guaranteed a chance to play - and not only that but against their hated rivals!

Labour Day also means the end of summer and the return to the school year. The end of relaxing days and extended weekends. Now it’s back to getting the kids ready for school and making lunches every night.

Labour Day means the beginning of cooler weather. Right now there is a ‘Special Weather Advisory’. From today until Tuesday, we’re expecting wind gusts from 50-80km/hr, possible frost and a low of -3° overnight.

At least we could always count on the Labour Day Classic to distract us from everything else going on this weekend. But this year we don’t even have that since the CFL season was cancelled. Now it’s just cold and windy.

I guess this is making up for that beautiful May Long Weekend that is usually cold and windy. And at least I get the day off. I’m going to use it to do some back to school baking and last minute prep for school.
