It Worked

The experiment, it worked. I went to the jam session and it went really well. Everyone said how much the banjo added to the sound. They also said that I played really well for only playing such a short time and teaching myself. I guess me telling them how bad I was worked. If your expectations are that low, then anything is great! So I'll be playing at some tea on Saturday evening and the next Saturday evening. Just two songs but at least it will be in front of people. This is my second first. The first first (that sounds funny) was playing with people. Now in front of people. I haven't even done that with mandolin (which I got first).

Then they got me to sing. They asked what types of music I liked. And I told them Bluegrass, and Dixie Chicks. They've played some of their stuff. So I sang Travelin' Soldier. I was too nervous the first time so we did it a few more times and it sounded better. It will take some before I'm comfortable but it'll get there. So it looks like I'm in this for the long haul. He wants me to sing some Joni Mitchell (he's a big fan). I'm not but I listened to some of her early stuff. I really like Little Green. I think I'll try and learn that one. But I told him I refuse to sing Big Yellow Taxi. That is one of the two songs I absolutely hate. (Patio Lanterns is the other). Looks like I'll be a hippie yet!
