Now You Know

So we had a great time at our friend's house for Easter supper. There were a bunch of friends over and it was a packed house. There's one small incident that I have to tell you about just because it was so funny. Just a disclaimer. I hate using people's names on my blog. If you haven'y noticed, I never use names unless it's me or Mark otherwise people are known as a friend or a person at work. So I'm going to call these people Jimmy and Charlie (it makes me giggle because their names are so common that the first fake names I went to use were their actual names) because it would be too hard to keep typing, Mark's friend from work and Mark's other friend)

We went to Jimmy's house for Easter and there were already some people there including his nephew and his 5 month pregnant wife. I told her I was too and we talked for a bit about getting ready, clothes and the like. But eventually the conversation progressed and we went onto other topics. Later on, Charlie and his wife arrived and we settled into ordinary topics. Now, we all know each other but we all work at different places so it's not like our paths cross that often. So we're at the table, Charlie, Jimmy, myself and Mark are all sitting around a corner of the table, in that order. We're all really relaxed and having a great time making jokes at each others expense (mostly Mark at Jimmy's expense) but a few of Mark's were at myself so I'd pretend to be offended and give him a swat on the arm. I guess Mark's arm was getting a little sore so Jimmy piped up and asked if my hormones were proving to be problem. I started laughing because if he only knew the mood swings I having (in private) and hiding in public. Now, no mention of me being pregnant had been mentioned since long before Charlie had shown up but comments like these had been thrown around but that's easily enough explained away since there is an obviously pregnant woman at the table. But Jinny's comment must have been the last straw and as I'm in mid-laugh, I look up and see the expression on Charlie's face. Then he looks around and says "Am I out of the loop?" Then we all stop laughing and Mark says to him, "Well, you know, don't you...she's pregnant."No, he didn't know at all. Then I burst out laughing because I realized just how inappropriate Jimmy's comment must have sounded to him.

I should have realized that he didn't know I was pregnant when he offered me a glass of wine. The best part about that was hours after supper when we were all talking in the living room, he suddenly turned to me and exclaimed, "That's why didn't want a glass of wine!"
