It's Snowing Outside and I Couldn't Care Less!!
Today was the big day. I finally got the ultrasound. And everything looks really good. Although the tech did ask me if I was sure about my dates. Turns out the doctor was a bit early on his estimate. He said Sept 4. I said Sept 12, Mark said Sept 19. The tech said Sept 23. So that's the date I'm going with. I knew he was too early. Charts can't tell you anything, especially since no one follows as exact as a chart does. Anyway, she told me to be prepared when the doctor gets really concerned that the baby isn't as big as he thinks it should be and sends me back for another ultrasound. Fine by me. Then I get to see my baby again. That little monkey was really squirmy. I kept laughing which wasn't all that good because then the picture shook so I tried to keep it together. She just put the picture on and didn't move the thingy and the baby moved all on its own. I told her that I was so relieved because I hadn't felt anything and even though the books say that not all pregnancies are the same and some babies don't move too much, I was still getting worried, I was 21 weeks after all. Well, turns out I'm only barely 18 weeks. So that's why I couldn't feel anything and that's why my morning sickness seemed to stretch on so long. It was so amazing to see it move around. And I only cried a little. I'm getting more choked up now thinking about it. (Plus I have the Dixie Chicks' song Lullaby playing right now. If you haven't heard I HIGHLY suggest it). But back to the baby. We saw the eyes, ears, arms, legs and the tiny toes. I was so worried that I wouldn't be able to make out anything in the picture but I didn't need to worry. We counted the toes. There 10 tiny toes. And the little bum and the we saw the heart beating like crazy. It had its arms by its head and then would move around. She was having trouble getting good pictures because it wouldn't sit still. I can't till the next ultrasound, then I'll get some even better pictures. She said it was still pretty good that we could see what we did with the baby being so early on. Next time there will be more. I can't wait!! Hey, I just realized that with a later due date, I'll have to wait even longer to meet the little monkey.
THE PICTURES
In this one, you can see the two eyes and the brain. I think it kinda looks like an alien in this picture. The ultrasound showed a better shot of its face and there it looked more like a monkey. But it is so cute, I could see ears, eyes and a cute little nose!
This is a shot of the brain. My baby is going to be so smart!!
I think this is the best shot. It shows the spine and the little bum. The bum is so cute!! You can also see an arm sticking up close to the head. It was swinging its arms all over the place.
This is hard to see, but it's the feet. The toes are pretty clear in this one. You can see the bottom one better than the top. We got to see the feet so clearly and count the little toes.
This is the hardest one to figure out. It looks like a head on the right side right? Well, it's actually its chest and the two dark blobs in the middle is the heart. It was really beating away.
