Weighty Issues
I've always been small. I remember in Junior high when I was so happy that I got some meat on my bones and my fingers didn't look like skin covered bones anymore. I've never had a problem staying slim. But now that gaining weight is important, my body just doesn't seem to make the shift. At my first check-up, they took my weight and at the second one, I had lost two pounds. And I've been pretty consistent at that weight. I asked my doctor about it and he said not to worry because it's still early and I'll gain weight soon. But, the baby is gaining weight and I'm not. You'd think a second person would add weight but itself, but no...nothing. After I got home from Regina, I gained 4 pounds. I even felt heavier. I was so excited. I figured that finally my body was catching up. But the next day, it was all gone. That evening I had gained back two pounds. I didn't even know it was possible to fluctuate that much in one day! I think I'm going to stop going on the scale. It's just making me mad. And I know the baby is growing. The doctor said it was a good size and you can see my belly sticking out. I'll let the doctor take my weight and if he gets concerned then I will. But for now, I'm going to try and forget about it.
One other surprise about pregnancy that I was not prepared for was Round Ligament Pain. It comes during the beginning of the second trimester when the uterus is now too big for the ligaments to hold it and they get stretch out but still too small for it to rest on the pelvic bone. At least that's how I understand it. All I know is that it hurts. A lot. That was me on Monday. I rolled over in bed and a ripping pain seared through my abdomen. Then it hurt to walk and to stand. It didn't matter if I hunched over or tried to hold my belly. Nothing worked, except to sit down. But then to stand back up was horrible. Luckily it started to fade by the evening. On Tuesday, I didn't have any pain at all and today, just a little bit. Can't wait for more surprises!!
