Strange Days and Strange Nights
A couple nights ago, I had a weird dream. Before I start telling you the dream, I should let you know a few things. Abby is teething which means she's quite cranky and doesn't sleep very well. It is insanely hot in this house lately. I have a cold. I hurt all over and my nose is stuffed up. That night, Abby was having a horrible time going back to sleep. I finally sat up in the spare bed and had her on my chest. Eventually we both fell asleep. Okay, I was dreaming that I was scuba diving. I remember looking up at the surface of the water and my air ran out. I couldn't breathe. Just then I woke up sputtering and gasping for breath. Either I have extremely realistic dreams or I stopped breathing while I was asleep and managed to wake myself up. Either way, it was pretty scary.
So Abby has not been sleeping very well. Last night I got about 3 hours sleep total. Most of it was not her fault though. I was exhausted, but I just could not fall asleep. I was tossing and turning and I figured I was disturbing Mark so I went into the spare room. I did eventually drift off but Abby woke up before too long. I lost track of the time before she eventually went back to sleep. The upside is that she's napping a lot better recently. I can put her in her crib and she sleeps really well. I just wish she would sleep for more than 3 hours at one time. It's like having a newborn all over again.
Last night we had an awesome thunderstorm. It's been awhile since I got see a good one. This one was so good that it knocked the power out. Twice. After the power came back on the first time, the satellite receiver wasn't working. We figured that the lightning fried it, but after the power went out (for a longer time) and then back on, it was working. We're always a little suspicious of that receiver. We got it half price because it was refurbished. It's still got a few bugs and needs to be rebooted every once and awhile.
