Dog Day
Got up early today thanks to the Little One. We took it easy until 9:00 (when I had days off, I'd still consider that day as a work day thus I wouldn't start "working" until 9:00. It gave me some time to sit and enjoy my coffee and not feel guilty about just sitting on the couch). So when the time came, we started. Mark went downstairs to pack up all his tools. I stayed upstairs and packed the kitchen cupboards and the pantry. Then we took all the boxes outside. Before we knew it, it was lunchtime and nap. So while Abby napped, we cleaned up the garage and packed up the rest of the stuff there. We had brought Dee Dee out since it was really shaping up to be a beautiful day. We were even planning to set up the sprinkler once Abby woke up and run through it. It must have been around 1:30 when Abby woke up. So I brought her outside to play. That's when Mark walked over to the leash and asked me where Deeds was. He picked up the leash and there was her choke chain on the end with no dog attached to it. She had no collar on since she was just supposed to be in the yard. We both took off walking around looking for her and the neighbours did too. We had the next door neighbours and their kid, and his friend and the guy form across the street all looking for Dee Dee. I though she wouldn't have gone too far so I took off with Abby still in my arms without putting shoes on her. I walked a couple blocks before turning back. By this time Abby was getting very heavy and wanted to walk. So she walked in the grass all the way home. When we got back, Mark decided to go look for her in the truck. I grabbed a stroller and I could see others go looking in the bush. I went up the back alley to the edge of the bush then back down to the park near the high school then around along the road. I don't know if anyone knows this part of town but after carrying Abby for three blocks and then walking this huge circle, I was getting really tired. Oh, did I mention it was hot outside and I was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans? Yeah. I was on my way back when Mark called me. He had her in the truck and did I want a ride back home? Air conditioning. Dog, safe and sound. Awesome. Mark told me that the neighbour boys saw Deeds coming back home from the bush. She must have just decided to go for a walk and then got thirsty so decided to come home. The neighbours gave her a big drink of water. So since we were all in the truck, we stopped by Wal-Mart to pick up some ice cream treats for the boys as a thank you treat. We put Deeds in the house. And we put her collar on. It's still on.
Once everything settled down, I got Abby in her bathing suit and we stood in the yard and got sprayed by the sprinkler. I loved it, Abby, not so much. So we put her in the stroller and finished packing the garage. And you know what? We got it all done. The rest of the afternoon was spent laying down and reading "The Monster At the End of This Book" repeatedly. I almost threw it under the couch so she wouldn't ask me to read it again. But then that would be mean. It is a good book. Anyone else remember that book?
I have rediscovered Wolfenstein. Bless you free downloads!!
