Random Ramblings
1. One of the new girls at work was on the phone the other day. She share an office so it's really easy to hear. She left a message on their answering machine and after she hung up, she took a deep breath and said, "I HATE talking on the phone!" Well, so do I, especially for work. I always get so flustered and end up sounding like like some ditzy little girl who has doesn't know what she's doing. So we talked for a few minutes about our shared hatred/fear of talking on the phone when I said the one thing that helps me is writing everything down and just reading it off like a script. That's when she held up her piece of paper with everything she said written down. I laughed so hard.
2. I didn't work yesterday. The babysitter took some time off to go to her sister's wedding. It was such a nice day so when Abby went down for her nap, I went outside. I thought about going in and watching Mad Men on Netflix. Mark doesn't like that show so the only time I watch it is when he's busy or away. And Abby really doesn't like it so I can't watch it while she's awake. But then I decided that since it was finally a nice day, I should enjoy it and I can watch Mad Men in the winter (or when it's raining). I ended up falling asleep in the hammock. Best afternoon ever. Abby slept over two hours. I slept about half an hour. When I woke up, a baby rabbit hopped past me. Dee Dee didn't even notice. There was another creature out there too. I'm not sure what it was it sounded like a cross between a parrot/cat/baby/noisemaker. It was a strange sound.
3. We had our first fire in the firepit last night. We even had s'mores. They were delicious. It was a bit difficult getting the fire started (it was the first one) but my Girl Guide memories shone through and pretty soon we had a roaring fire. Now my throat hurts. I'm still not 100% over my cold. Longest. Cold. Ever.
4. Potty Update:
Abby has finally agreed to wear panties. She would pee on the potty no problem but insisted on wearing her "bums." But I got Dora panties (with butterflies) and after a couple days of trying, she wore them today. She even pooped on the potty today! We tried earlier in the morning but it was a no go! But after supper, she said she had to go and finally...poop in the potty! I think we can get rid of the diapers now. I'm going to find some Good Nite/Pull ups for nighttime but for the day I think we're there. However, she insists on taking off all her clothes when she pees. Even her socks. Then she runs around naked while I chase her with her panties. Good thing I can close all the blinds!
4. My sister and her family are moving closer!! I'm so excited. And their moving date is the same date that we moved a year ago! They will be the same distance away from my parents as we are. Now we can meet in the middle! And we have an excuse to go shopping.
5. Here are some pictures of the recent flooding. The last couple days have had no rain and some hot temperatures. That should help some. Minot was hit really hard too. Some 12,000 people were evacuated. I guess the people are pretty upset and some are taking it out on Canadians. Someone in town here said that if you have a Sask licence plate and you are in Minot, be prepared for car to get keyed. Some people just need someone to blame I guess.
6. I was walking past a window today when I saw a blue sky. It was cloudy all day (no rain) so I was surprised to see blue. You know it's bad when you see a blue sky and just assume it's a storm cloud!
