#4. Lily of the Valley - Beautiful flower, very hardy and resilient. Grows best in the shade. Flower and leaves are poisonous. It is a symbol of humility in religious paintings. Lily of the valley is considered the sign of Christ's second coming. The power of men to envision a better world was also attributed to the lily of the valley. National flower of Finland.
The flowers are really starting to bloom. There's only a few more to open. It already looks great out there.
This is one from the front yard. It just opened today.
I'd love to take credit for these flowers, I really would, but in truth, I have done absolutely nothing to get them the way they are. I didn't choose them, plant them, heck, I didn't even water them! I guess that's why I like them so much. It's like Christmas...waiting to see what comes next, what it will look like, is it even a flower or just some weed I let grow?
#5. Blue Cornflower - National flower of Estonia. Edible flower can be added to salad. One of the ingredients in tea especially the Lady Grey blend of Twinings. Favourite flower of JFK and worn by JFK Jr at his wedding in tribute to his late father. Used in the funeral wreath made for King Tut.
