Whew!
What a weekend!
Saturday was my little baby's birthday!! She's three! Can you believe it? We had a great birthday party with her grandparents. I think it's my last year of keeping it low-key. Next year she'll have lot of little friends (she has a few already) and I see the days of big parties with gift bags and themes looming on the horizon. Yikes! But as it was, it was still fun. I had ordered some pizzas and a cake (I refused to make anything more than a salad - keeping it low-key). We even used paper plates and plastic cups. After lunch, she opened her gifts and immediately started playing with all of them! She did pause to give everyone thank you hugs. After lunch, when it should have been nap time, we snuggled on the couch and watched her new Dora DVD. She watched intently, I fell fast asleep. I even missed saying goodbye to Mark's parents!! I had to laugh...I kept this party as easy and stress-free as humanly possible and it still played me out! I'm blaming the pregnancy.
Yesterday was also a big day for another reason. Mark ordered windows awhile back and has been waiting for an opportunity to install them. These last weekends have been so busy there just never seems be a chance to get it done. And this weather can't last forever (but it seems too!) So Mark's parents decided to come Friday night and stay overnight so when we woke up in the morning, Mark and his Dad started installing the windows. I'm sure the neighbours weren't that impressed with Mark cutting out the old windows at 8am on a Saturday morning! But it was only one morning and we are usually so quiet that I think we will be forgiven! The first window came out and the new one went in with no trouble at all! After the party was over, and my parent's had gone, they did the second one and it went just as smoothly. They look so nice! The frame around the windows is smaller so it really feels like we have a bigger window! There's a ledge now (that will be covered in dust I'm sure). And they are SOOO much quieter. I can hardly hear the trucks go by anymore, and I can't remember the last train I heard. It's amazing the difference. Next spring we're going to get the office and bathroom windows done. Then it's just Abby's room, our room and the big picture window in the front. Then we'll move onto the doors. A homeowner's work is never done!
