The Cure for Heartburn
Last night I started getting some heartburn. Mark offered to go get me some Tums so he went upstairs to the bathroom to get some. While he was up there, he noticed that Abby's light was on. Ever since we put in the new dimmer switch, Abby has a habit of turning it on and playing in her room. There are many times when I get her up in the morning that I find her room rearranged or toys where they weren't the night before or wearing different clothes. The worst is finding something that I know I put up on the shelf which only means that she climbed up on the change table and reached up and climbed back down. We've had a talk many times but the lure of toys is just too strong. So Mark went into Abby's room to turn off the light and make sure everything was fine. Then I hear him yell, "Emily! Get up here now!" I raced upstairs expecting to find that she pooped or threw up. Instead, I saw Mark standing there with an empty bottle of children's Tylenol. So immediately I called Poison Control. They told me that it shouldn't be a big deal because the makers of children's drugs make the dosages in the bottles small enough so if you do have a child determined enough to get in, then it won't do any damage. That made me feel a bit better but we still packed her up and took a trip to the Emergency Room. They took her weight (She weighs less than I thought) and then the doctor told us that she'll be fine. She wasn't acting any different. She was happy and playing. Maybe a little tired but it was 9:30 when we got there. When we got home, Abby said she was hungry (after eating that many Tylenol?) so we gave her some cheese and milk and sent her off to bed. Mark and I were still a little wired so we watched some TV. We checked up on her when we went to bed. Fast asleep. Her room smelled like bubblegum Tylenol. I figured that when I woke up in the night I'd check in on her. Well what do you know, I didn't wake up once during the night. As for my heartburn, long gone.
