Happy New Year: Time to Take Stock

I was just pursuing Facebook, as one does, and I came across the following picture:

And while I agree with it in principle, I do take issue with it. This is a great time to do a little self-evaluation. What have I done over the past year? How can I improve? Is there an area in my life that needs work? Do I need to cut anything/one out of my life?

For me it always comes down to two things...I want to learn more and get in better shape. So usually I resolve to read more and to exercise or eat better. Last year I did pretty good with eating more vegetables and reading more. I’m starting to realize that I may never make time for regular exercise. But what I can do is take a look back at the year that was and try and determine how to either improve on it or continue on the good things.

This year I started a new job. I was pretty nervous about it. I didn’t really know what I was getting into. But I really like it there and I like the people I work for and with. This I would like to continue. I also made a conscious decision to eat more vegetables. I would like to improve this. I could probably do this by having them pre-cut. That way it’s easier just to grab and go. I also want to add some sort of physical activity as well. This was sorely lacking last year. I’m not entirely sure how to do this. I HATE getting up early and by the evening, I’m exhausted. Maybe in summer when I have more time in the morning? Who knows. It’s something to strive for.

Oh, I almost forgot: HAPPY NEW YEARS FOOD!! It wouldn’t be New Year’s Eve if I didn’t have some snacks. Supper consisted of sausages and cottage cheese perogies, homemade stuffed mushrooms and moscato. Late night snack was a variety of cheese, prosciutto, crackers and Italian grapefruit soda.

Happy New Year everyone. May this be the year you reach your goals, take the plunge, live the dream. I believe in you!
