Court is in Session
Today I clerked court by myself for the first time. Well, she was beside me for the most part, but I was in charge. It was fun. I was really nervous to begin with but I think it went pretty well. It was a trial and I hadn't been to a trial before. I got to swear in a couple of witnesses. At Provincial court, we have to take notes and document the times when different people talk. That's so when it's transcribed, the transcribers know where to look on the tape. It reminded me of university taking notes - trying to pick out the important stuff and not writing everything the prof says. Also I have to make sure I note the times on the tape recorder. The hard part is when the two lawyers are talking back and forth and all of the sudden the Judge says case dismissed. Then I kinda freaked and had to quickly note the time and what he said and what charge that was applied to. But I like court, it's more interesting than anything else.
Today was also the first might of the Women's Group at church. We stopped for the summer and now we're back into it. I think it should be fun. I'll keep ya posted!
I got my birthday present form Mark already. Well, not the actual gift, that's not coming until April! Any guesses?
