About Time!
Yesterday we were invited to a friend's cabin for supper. It was a really nice evening filled with great food, great conversation and a relaxing boat ride to cap off the evening. I have been lamenting to Mark that I haven't seen a bald eagle all summer. Well, on the drive there, there was one flying over the lake. It made my day and I would've settled for seeing it just once but on our boat ride, I must have seen it at least three times. And the best one was as we were driving past, it was perched in a dead tree, so we took the boat back and got pretty close. Finally it took off and flew over us. One thing I had often wondered about eagles and other large birds of prey was just how agile they are. I've often seen black birds and seagulls go after the eagles and hawks and I've wondered how the bigger birds get them to back off. Last night, a hawk or some type of bird was dive bombing an eagle and once the hawk got close enough, the eagle would do a barrel roll and try to grab it with its talons. I didn't realize that they could flip upside down like that. It only stayed there for a second, but it was something to see, this majestic bird flying upside down, talons grabbing at air.
9 weeks to go, only 6 weeks and 4 days of work and 5 weeks before I can safely go into labour without them flying me to Winnipeg. I keep hearing people complaining about how fast the summer is flying by. Longest summer ever.
