Wowzers

I put up this picture to help you visualize something that happened this afternoon. we've been having lots of thunderstorms this week and weekend so when one rolled in today, I didn't really think twice. I was listening to the radio, which is unusual because I don't really like this radio station but Sirius Radio wan unavailable so it was all I had, when a weather bulletin came over the air. It said there is a tornado warning for the area. I didn't really believe it, I didn't think tornadoes could form here. But when the lady form the RCMP phoned, we started to talk about it and I joked that if one came, I'd lock myself in the vault and if Mark phoned there later on tonight cuz I didn't come, could she send one of the guys to come and break the door down for me. But luckily nothing like happened. What did happen was one huge rain/hail storm. It poured like nothing I've seen before. When I got home, there was hail washed into garage. Mark had called me at work saying that the couldn't see the lawn because it was covered in water and he was sure the water was going to come in the house. By the time I got home, everything was draining anyway, but I did pass one manhole that had popped its top. The only thing that saved us was the fact we tore up the backyard last year and graded it and put in a drainage system. That and the trench Mark and his dad built. But all is well now and there is no water in the house.

Oh yeah, the picture. You see those concrete blocks that surround the base of the stairs? They were under water. That's about a foot of water that was sitting there and in the backyard.
