I Finally Get It
I understand now why women stop breastfeeding. I used to think why on earth would you ever quit so soon? Don't you know you are depriving your child of the best nutrients? And it's free!! But I'm beginning to understand now. Imagine the worst nipple twister ever, every two hours, day and night, for 6 months - at least! It starts to add up and I'm starting to feel the wear and tear of it all. Now I'm not about to stop and start formula. I'm just saying it's not that easy. And we've never really had any problems. She never had problems latching and my milk came in really soon after. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for those who did have problems. I'm determined to finish it and I'm so impressed by the determination of those who actually have something to complain about!
On a lighter note...the dog is afraid of Abby. When we first brought home Abby, the dog didn't seem to even notice she was there. She would walk right past her and not give her a second glance. Later on, she would giver her a passing sniff. Recently, if we're holding Abby, we encourage Dee Dee to come and sniff. I think she feels my apprehension because if I'm around, Deeds is very cautious. Well, I'm warming up to them being closer together. Today at lunch, Mark thought it would be funny to see Abby ride the dog. So he picked up up and went top put her on Deed's back. He got one foot on her back and the dog took off. He tried again and didn't even get that close and the dog ran away. But then again, she's afraid of the laundry baskets. Go figure.
