If It's Not One Thing, It's Another

Well, breastfeeding has improved. Yesterday I nearly called the lactation consultant. It hurt so bad on the right side that I was crying while she nursed. But I read the book and got a few pointers and now it's better. Not perfect, but tolerable. Last night I had to get Mark to help me. He sat beside me and told me all about his computer game. It got my mind of the searing pain and before I knew it, she was done. However, today, I am sick. I don't have a cough or a sore throat or runny nose or stomach ache...my whole body aches and I have a monster headache. Plus I'm exhausted and really cold. Well, actually I've warmed up now. I no longer have the blanket wrapped around me. So maybe I'm getting better. Today Mark and I and Abby picked up my friend and we went to the craft shows. Mark pushed Abby around in the stroller. He would get two feet and someone would stop him to look at Abby. Finally he just stood by the door as to not block the traffic and still let people look at her. It was so busy at the Flin Flon sale. I hate crowds and by that time I was starting to feel sick. Afterwards, we went to the Creighton sale. There were less people so I could breathe but I was really tired. When we got home, I fed Abby then hopped into bed.

Mark is leaving soon for hunting. He's really excited. I'm not as excited but my mom is coming while he's away so that is exciting. I hope he gets some deer!

I bought bubble bath at the Creighton craft sale and I had a wonderful bath this afternoon. I filled the bath with really hot water and after about 5 minutes, it was barely warm. So I drained some and filled it with only hot water. That lasted. Except now that I'm thinking about it, I'm getting cold again. Maybe I'll go and get my blanket again.

Abby is beginning to coo. It's so cute!

I don't know if anybody has suggested this or not yet, but try some lanolin. Brand names are PureLan or Lanoish. They make a huge difference. I tried to do it the way the nurses suggested without the cream, but I finally listened to my mom and bought some and it solved all my pain issues within a few days. Glad you had a good time at the craft sale.

Also, if you can make it the first six weeks, it gets much better. I was ready to quit around 4, but by 6/7 weeks, I had it down and we kept going for 5 months.

The first coos are so adorable!

Hey Emily, check out this link and see if you feel you have the symptoms of mastitis. http://www.cureresearch.com/m/mastitis/symptoms.htm

I only suggest that because of the severe pain while nursing and the sudden onset of sickness. Something to check out anyway.

Either way, get well soon!

And don't forget about your local La Leche League. They work on volunteer basis so if you are having any troubles at all, someone would be happy to come out and give you a hand for free. :)

We went to a craft show today too. So fun to look at all those creations!
