Dog Days
We went for another walk today. I was in the mood and I hadn't gone since my last post so I figured since I actually wanted too, I better not pass up the opportunity. Besides, Mark is out ice fishing today so I need something to do to make it not like every other day. It started out like the last time, Abby started crying, then screaming when I put her into her snowsuit. But calmed down once I started walking. The dog figured it out again and started whining. So I had Abby screaming in my ear and dog crying in the hallway. Wonderful. Please someone tell that this is worth it. Or tell me that it's not so I can stop. I know it'll be easier in the summer but that's months away. We went for a slightly longer walk today. But Abby's cheeks got a little pink so I turned around. She didn't appear cold. She wasn't fussy and seemed to really enjoy the walk. The dog didn't like it at first. For someone who wanted to come along so much, she sure didn't appear to enjoy it. She hopped along on three legs for the first little bit but then settled down. She wasn't feeling well yesterday. She had a cough and it seemed like she was trying to throw up. Whenever she throws up, she goes into the bathroom and yesterday, she would wander into the bathroom and try, but then change her mind and leave. We think she might have gotten something stuck in her throat. She chews her nails so maybe a bit of nail got stuck and she was trying to bring it up. But she hasn't done it at all today so I guess she got it. But yesterday, every time I walked pass the bathroom, I'd look in just in case there was a puddle on the floor.
I've been organizing the basement rooms. We got a single bed from Mark's parents and we're going to put it in the one room. I'm consolidating both rooms into one. I was actually planning on doing that before but this is the kick in the pants I needed. I just thought it silly to have my instruments in the other room when I doing all my playing in here. So now I 'm moving all my scrapbooking stuff in here too. I bought some collapsible storage boxes at Canadian Tire so hold all my stuff. That way the table is clear to work on and all the paper, stamps etc don't get spread out all over the place. I still have to start on Abby's scrapbook (another New Year's Resolution) and a neat area is the first step.
Next we're having visitors. I'm quite excited. It's going to be nice to have more people to talk to around here. Plus they are really good with Abby so I'm sure she'd be excited if she knew what was happening. She's asleep right now (YEAH!!) Yesterday evening I would get her asleep and at the last minute, she'd wake up. It happened three times and today my knees really hurt from trying to get her to go back to sleep. It was just so frustrating, it was getting funny. I'd think, okay, she's asleep, I can sit down. So I'd sit and she'd stay asleep. So then I thought it was safe to take her out of the Trekker and put on chair to sleep. Once I just got the Trekker undone and she woke up, the next time, I got her into her swing and she woke up. The last time I got her settled in her chair and she was still asleep. I did a little (silent) dance and sat down to watch some relaxing TV without the extra 15 1/2 pounds strapped to me when I looked over at her and saw her big eyes starting back at me. A wave of disbelief, horror and despair came over me. But then Mark came home at that moment so he cuddled with her for a bit. She just did not want to stay asleep yesterday.
