The Fear

We went to the Library yesterday for her weekly Toddler Time. She was so excited to go, and she behaved really well. She participated and did all the actions for the little song they sang. Then it was time to go. She took off running. The library is pretty big and she has run around before and I can always find her no problem. But this time I couldn't seem to see her little ponytail anywhere. The kids area is way at the back of the library and the doors lead to a hallway in the leisure centre that takes you to other multipurpose rooms and to the pool. The doors are pretty heavy but Abby can open them herself. So after a few laps around the library with no luck, the fear was starting to set in. Then I thought, if I were Abby, where would I go? Babies. There were a few babies in her class and there is one little boy she loves and is always right there wherever he is. So I headed back and saw him and his nanny but no Abby. Then I remembered how she loves to sneak back in the classroom and run around. Sure enough, I was just getting close and she bolts out of the classroom. I grab her and get her dressed and we go. (Well, actually that consisted of four timeouts before she finally put on her boots and jacket then a giant meltdown in the parking lot which saw her kick off her boots and try and lay down on the gravel.) But all in all, we made it home safe and sound. Although a little more frazzled than we left.
