Mad Distractions

This is what happens when Abby plays so well by herself. I have time to consider what I might look like with bangs! I haven't had bangs since I was a kid. I tried once in high school but they were so light that I always just brushed them to the sides. The last time I got my hair cut, she cut my bangs but in a longer, side-swept fashion. So out of boredom, curiosity and the chance to spend a couple minutes by myself, I took the plunge. And I'm happy with the result! Sure, it's a little scruffy, Mark had to clean it up a bit when I got home, but I got rave reviews on Facebook, and at work and even the ladies at the Credit Union loved it! Guess it pays to take a chance.

So I guess that was the highlight of my week. Otherwise, Abby and I have been getting out of the house by going to the Library or other places. She's been getting better about leaving places. Not great, but better. And I'll settle for that.

I'm looking forward to next weekend. We're celebrating an early Easter - either that or we're just celebrating Palm Sunday...or maybe just spending a weekend together. Plus it's a chance to go shopping. I've needed contacts (from Costco) and other things for awhile now. And....I'm finally getting my dobro!!! I'm pretty excited about however, I feel a little weird. I've always loved Christmas Eve better than Christmas Day. I love the anticipation, the excitement of what's coming. But once I've got it...well, it's over. And I've wanted this for a long time. But I guess the excitement won't wear off so quickly. It will take me a long time to learn this thing and that will keep my attentions. This is the one I'm getting... It's a Epiphone Hound Dog Square Neck Dobro.

Well, I for one, am glad it's Friday if for no other reason than I don't have to plan any more meals this week. Ug, what a chore it has been. It's never fun but this week has been really bad. We haven't had much meat int he house lately...it seems like I'm saving it all for BBQ season - which at this rate will be another three months! We've had chicken breasts, then spaghetti and meat sauce, then spaghetti with chicken breasts and sauce, then pizza sandwiches and tonight, farmer sausage and vareniki (which I just bought last night). And yet, there still doesn't seem to be any more different kinds of meat. Next week might be another challenge. I would seriously rather clean toilets than plan meal everyday. It just seems so pointless. Even if I do come up with a good one, with different courses - and actually use more than one pot, it just get eaten and I have to do it all over again the next night. But maybe I'm just feeling tired. I've been watching Mad Men while I type this and several times the screensaver has popped up. It has taken me almost two hours to do this! I get distracted, and start rambling. And now I have a craving for a whiskey sour. Did you know there is a cocktail guide for Mad Men? With recipes! Now if they can tell me wear to get some of those dresses!
