That's The Thing About Phases
They are always changing.
I was just thinking/reminiscing about how Abby used to throw tantrums whenever we left someplace. I had to keep cookies in my purse just to prevent any legs kicking and bloodcurdling screams. And then trying to get that little one in the car seat after I dragged her out of whatever building we escaped. She is a strong little person! But that soon ended. I started telling her, in advance, that we were going to leave. I'd give her a few minutes, then I'd tell her it was time to go and to say Goodbye. Generally if she says goodbye, she's okay leaving. But this week, things changed again. It started Monday. We went to the Family Centre. It was fun until it was time to go. Then she kicked up a storm. Screamed and flailed - it felt like all eyes were on me. I finally got her jacket on and by that time she was getting tired so she put on her shoes. When it was time to go to the sitter's, again with the I'm-not-going-anywhere tantrum. When it was time to pick her up...I got her jacket on and carried her to the Jimmy because she wouldn't put on her shoes. Tuesday, I had to chase her down the Library to get her to put on her jacket and boots. Wednesday, after Bible study, another tantrum when it was time to go. But on Thursday we went to the Family Centre again. It was much easier to go. She said bye to the baby she was playing with left without so much as a glance backwards. Just to keep me on my toes I guess.
