It's Been One Week
Since I made my Resolution. And it's going really well. Mark even said that the house has never looked so good. It's amazing how the mess and the dust can become so normalized and I get accustomed to it to the point where I don't hardly even see it. It reminds me a lot of those episodes of Hoarders where the people honestly don't see how the piles of newspapers touching the ceiling could be a problem. Don't worry Mom, it wasn't that bad. But there was a layer of dust that was semi-embarrassing.
This week was probably the hardest since I had to scrub a lot of places. But if I can keep this up, I won't have to do as much. More of a preventive maintenance type of plan. And I haven't had to pull a mass of hair and dust out of Isabelle's mouth so right there it tells me that it's all worth it. Plus, it lets me play on my phone guilt free knowing that all my housework is done. I've always said that if you don't work outside of the house then you work inside the house. And if that is the case, I should have been fired long ago. But I pulled up my socks, put my big girl underpants on and got to work. And you know what? I'm kinda proud of myself. It's nice to take pride in my home again.
I made buns today on my new baking sheets and cooled them off on my new cooling racks. I think I finally got the hang of the whole "bun making" thing. I only wish I had gloves for when I knead the dough. It always hurts my knuckles so much. I already had two scrapped knuckles before I even started. Now they hurt even more and I had to put a bandaid on the one. But other than that small element, I'm feeling good about baking buns for my family. So good day all around.
