Miscellaneous Ramblings

I was grumpy. It was 8:00am when Abby woke up for her breakfast. Mark was saying how good she slept through the night. I told him that she had got up at 4:30 and therefore did not sleep through the night and what’s worse, after she fed, I could not fall asleep until after 6am. I was in a bit of a fog so I’m not too sure what exactly I said or what tone I used but I again told him that she did not sleep through the night so why is he so happy! Anyway, I was accused of being cranky and sent back to bed. But after that nap, I felt much better and by the time Mark came home for lunch, I was in a great moo and all was forgiven.

I was dreaming. It was 1:47am when Abby started crying. I thought it was awfully early for another feeding since she usually eats at 11/12am, 4/5am and around 8am. But whatever, I get up and stumble to her room. I open the door and go to pick her up when I notice she is fast asleep. Hmm. I guess I imagined it. But then again, that’s not new. Whenever I rustle the sheets when I get in bed, it sounds like she’s crying. And sometimes when Mark is breathing it sounds like she’s crying. And last night Mark said my breathing sounded like her crying.

I was sitting on the couch. It was just before noon when Mark came home for lunch. Abby was settling down for a nap after her feeding. But since she wasn’t asleep yet and Mark loves his daughter so much, he went to pick her up. Perhaps I should mention that I had fed her a lot since she had been a little fussy at the first few feedings that morning. So as soon as Mark picked her up, she threw up all over him. And I mean all over him. He was soaked and so was she. So I took her to change her clothes while Mark changed his. I thought they looked so cute both without their shirts on so I went to go get my camera for a cute picture. Well, I turn around and Abby throws up again. Again, Mark gets soaked but at least they don’t have any clothes to get wet. So I clean up Abby again and Mark gets cleaned up and I take a few pictures. Then I dress Abby again and Mark puts on another shirt. They come out of her bedroom and don’t take three steps before Abby throws up again. At least this time she misses Mark and just gets herself. This time I take Abby and change her and I don’t give her back to Mark. I just put her back into her swing and soon she falls asleep. So one messed shirt and two messed sleepers later, she is fast asleep and having a well deserved nap.

Now we have to get ready for Halloween. It's going to be tricky (pun intended) with a newborn and a dog but we'll get something worked out. Stay tuned for more pictures

P.S. Abby is already developing a taste in music. We have a CD we play when she goes to sleep. It seems that Godspeed by Dixie Chicks is her favourite. She always calms down and goes to sleep when she hears it. On the other hand, How Great Thou Art by Anne Murray seems to be playing the most often when I go and get her when she's bawling. Now I'm not saying that she doesn't like Anne Murray, but it's hard to argue with a screaming a baby!
