Happy Mommy's Day
My Mother's Day actually started on Friday...I like to spread out the celebrating. We went out for supper. I don't like to cook on Fridays so this worked out quite well, plus we knew that it would be impossible to find a place to eat on Sunday. We went to Chicken Chef (where else) and ate some yummy food. Then to cap off the celebration, we went to WalMart and I bought slippers. I felt so redneck. Imagine going to WalMart as a an actual event. Well, whatever works. On Saturday, we really didn't do very much which is kinda nice on its own. So today, we got up, had pancakes and then went to church. I got a flower...a carnation. I got a white and a red one even though my mom is still alive. On Mother's Day, you are supposed to wear a carnation and the colour of the flower signifies whether your mother is still alive or has passed away. White means she's passed away and red means she's still alive. When I was younger, I was taught that red means she's alive and living close to you and pink means she lives far away. Maybe I just made that up but that's what I always thought.
It was such a nice day today that I finally wore a skirt to church. Our church is really not a dressy church but I don't care. I haven't worn a skirt in forever so I did it. Abby wore a little skirt too. She was cuter.
Mark gave me a card he had made (or had someone make for him) and got Abby to draw on it. It's so cute. It's up on the fridge now. Just the first of many pieces of art I'm sure are to come.
