Neighbours

This little visitor came by yesterday. Three years ago there used to be a family of foxes who lived on our land. There was a couple of dens in the back and one in the front.

I named the mom Felicity and we watched her babies grow and leave the den. And then we never saw them again. I thought I saw some activity last summer near the group of dens in the back but I wasn’t sure. So imagine my surprise when I saw her trotting through our trees and sniffing around. She seemed quite interested in a few spots. There’s a bunch of striped ground squirrels who live there and a bunch of mice so I’m very happy to see her.

Even better news today, she came back!! She wandered around a bit and went over to the old dens in the back. It’s my hope that she takes up residence back there and raises a nice little family who eat all our mice. Wouldn’t that be amazing to watch?!
