Rest for the Weary

So we turned our clocks forward yesterday. Boo. I guess everyone knows my views on stupid DST. Abby adjusted right away. She got up at her normal time and fell asleep right on schedule. I guess she's a true Manitoban and knows all about the changing time. Lucky girl. However, that did not mean she had a great night. Once she fell asleep she was fine, but she wasn't having a hard time going to sleep time. She was coughing lots (no throwing up) but really bad coughing. It must have hurt because after every cough, she screamed. Poor little thing. Eventually, after exhausting herself, she fell asleep. But everything is worse in the evening, right before you go to bed.

I think Abby is starting to get better. She's been sleeping a lot. Yesterday, she had a few long naps and today, she slept pretty much the entire morning. I got her up just after 8am and took her back to bed with me (I was not ready to get up) and fed her. She drifted off. Then woke up again and had another snack before drifting off again. It is now 12:09pm and she's still sleeping! Poor thing needs her rest. I however, am starting to feel bad. My throat hurts and I'm exhausted. I'm hoping it's just because I've been worried about Abby and not getting the naps I need. Once she feels better, I'll feel better. I tried to gargle with salt water (see Mom, I still hear your voice in my head) but I only got a few gulps. I really hate doing that.

So I expect today will be a relaxing day, taking it easy and not pushing anything. Besides, it's really cold outside. Our one day of spring is over. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

I am really enjoying the World Baseball Classic. It is fun to see different countries play baseball. It's also kinda neat to see where all these guys are from. I didn't know Bobby Abreu was from Venezuela. I knew he wasn't American. The rules about who can paly on what team is kinda wide open:
The player is a citizen of the nation the team represents. (Additionally, if a player is qualified for citizenship or to hold a passport under the laws of a nation represented by a team, but has not been granted citizenship or been issued a passport, then the player may be made eligible by WBCI upon petition by the player or team.)
The player is a permanent legal resident of the nation or territory the team represents.
The player was born in the nation or territory the team represents.
The player has one parent who is, or if deceased was, a citizen of the nation the team represents. The player has one parent who was born in the nation or territory the team represents

So basically, there are lots of players who can choose what team they want to play for. I guess it makes it so USA doesn't have such a dominant team. They still have a good team, but at least some of those guys can play for other teams. And Canada is doing pretty well too. There lots of really good Canadians in the Major Leagues so the team has lots of good players. Watching baseball is always fun no matter who is playing. Sometimes it's nice to see a game in which you don't care who wins. Less stress.
