Happy Love Day ♥️
I have mixed feelings about Valentine’s Day.
On one hand, it’s a made up holiday created to sell cards and chocolates. And honestly, if you think one day of flowers and a nice meal can make up for a year of neglect, you’re dreaming. Real love is everyday.
On the other hand*, it’s a day to celebrate love. One day to carve out some special time to rekindle your love and make sure that your special someone knows just how much you love and appreciate them. And it’s hard to argue with that.
And so I can kinda see both sides. I’ve been married for almost 15 years. We don’t “celebrate” Valentine’s Day. Not really anyhow. We don’t go out for supper, we don’t exchange gifts and he doesn’t buy me flowers. What he does do is wash the dishes by hand cuz our dishwasher broke down. What he does do is make supper for the family since I work later than he does and I have to get our daughter to Taekwondo. What I do is take our daughter to Taekwondo so he can relax at home. And we always make sure to say “I love you” and “Thank you.” Everyday.
*I used to have an English professor that we used to call the octopus because the number of times she’d say, “Oh the other hand...”
