Taking it On

She’s been asking for more responsibility. Well, that’s not entirely true. She’s been asking for an allowance which means she needs to start taking on more responsibilities. So, she is now stepping up and taking a more active role in caring for the dog.

She already takes her out for a walk everyday before school. And now she is charge making sure the dog always has food and water in her dishes. On Saturday, it was time for the dog’s bath. Last time she watched me as I did the bath and this time she did while I watched. She did great. 

She’s also been helping by teaching her tricks. So far we’ve only worked on sit and lay down. But we’re moving on to stay and come. I’d really love to be able to let her loose in the yard but I can’t do that until I know she’ll respond to those commands. She’s a smart dog but she’s not all that into learning things. She’ll do it for some cheese or meat but otherwise, meh. Although I should say that she responds very well to sit now. Only took a couple months!! 

So now I have to think more seriously about allowance. How much? How often? Do I pay cash or should I just transfer money in her account? And what other chores can I get her to do?
