Food and Fun
I did it. I said I would and I did. I baked buns. (I have pictures) They don't look much like the ones my Mom makes but they taste good. Mark was very happy. I also made cinnamon buns but I couldn't quite remember how to make them. It's been awhile since I watched Mom so I did what I could remember. Then after they were finished, I thought they looked a little white. Yep, I had forgotten to put cinnamon and sugar on top. Live and learn. So they taste a little bland but they're alright. The cinnamon and sugar on the inside helps.
Yesterday I went to work. It was long but good. I broke something though. When I went into the store to drop off my resume the ladies working there were talking about the job with me. They said that it's a great place to work, you'll have lots of fun and you will end up breaking something. It's just that simple. Just try not to break the really expensive stuff. Well, I was taking down the crystal figurines to dust and I picked up this tiny deer and I guess I grabbed it too tightly because I heard something hit the floor. I looked over and sure enough, the deer's leg was laying next to me. So I picked it up and showed my boss. They both laughed and said that it wasn't the first and won't be the last. At least it was a small deer. I was happy at least wasn't on my first day. Second day alright but not the first. I did knock over a wine glass last time but I caught it in time which was quite lucky cuz there was only a few and the customer wanted them all.
I have another casual job. Twice a month I'm doing the books at the Continued Adult Learning Centre. Yes, I am doing someones books. This is continued learning so maybe I'll learn something about math. It's a computer program so there will be not too math involved. She asked me if I balance the chequebook every month. I didn't know what to say. I don't get a monthly bank statement and I don't use cheques. She seemed confused. I kept saying I don't get any paper from the bank, everything is on the computer. But don't you check something against your statement? Well no. I use debit, it shows up on the computer as soon as I spend the money. When I do write a cheque, it's right there on the computer. What do I have to check? I don't see the point in wasting my time by keeping every receipt I ever get and at the end of the month, comparing it to the computer screen. More than likely, I'll add it together wrong and that's the only reason it wouldn't add up. When I did get paper statements, I looked them over and checked to see if I didn't recognize anything and I do the same when I check the website every other day or so. I have never been surprised. They have never gotten anything wrong. I tried to tell her this but she couldn't believe that there was no point in balancing something that was already balanced. I tried to redeem myself by saying that I keep track of my grocery bills and add them up at the end of the month. I don't think it worked. And besides, I'm only doing that as an experiment to see how much we are actually spending on groceries. It's for budgeting purposes only. Well it's only twice a month anyway. Hopefully I can find a better job before too long.
One fun thing. The ladies group at Cornerstone Church (the MB) had a function last night. We went bowling. That was fun. We bowled three games. The first one was normal, second was "fun" bowling and the third was Bowling Bingo where you have a sheet with squares like 4, 12, strike and every time you bowl a 4 or 12 or get a strike, you cross it off the list. The point is to get a blackout but no one got one so we'll have to see which team got the closest. After bowling, we walked across the street to the Scotiabank and had pizza. The head of the ladies group works there. It was weird being in a bank after hours. We were all a little uneasy thing that someone would see us and call the RCMP on us. Luckily the only one that knocked on the door was the pizza delivery person.
