No Stress!
Last night Mark and I tackled the weeds/flowers/branches in our yard. It actually went a lot smoother than I thought it would. I had planned on doing it all week but it kept raining. So yesterday, it was a really nice day. I told Mark I was going to flowers that afternoon but he made me wait until he got home. So after supper, we got out the scissors and all the tools. The soil was so dusty. You would not have believed that it had rained all week. Mark got me my stool so I didn't have to sit on the grass. But everything went really well and now our yard looks neat and clean and it's easy to walk on the sidewalk - no more dodging branches and overgrown bushes. My bum was so sore after cutting all those plants down. Even this morning, my bum still hurts. It rained today so we had some good timing.
So last appointment, the doctor told me to get a non-stress test. Well, I went this morning for it. The one nurse took me into the room and set up the blood pressure machine (good BP) and took a look at my belly and said "Oh my, it's all baby!" The another nurse came in and set up the monitor. She took a look at my belly and said "Wow, it's all baby!" Yep. I'm big. But I'm not fat. I just have a large child in my stomach who likes to stick straight out. What's a girl to do. So she strapped me into the machine. She thought while my BP was good, my pulse was a little high. But at the end of the whole thing, she took it again and it had settled down. Maybe I was nervous. Or out of breath from crawling on that bed. So I spent 20 minutes strapped to the machine. I watched the paper come out. I kinda knew what lines were for what. I watched the baby's heartbeat and listened to the heartbeat. I had a clicker that I hit whenever I felt movement. At first, there weren't too many at first, but they picked up. There is also a line that measures contractions. When she came back in, she took a look at the strip and said "What's going on here?" I had two contractions. 9 minutes apart and the last one had been 7 minutes ago and I had another while we were talking. She was kinda surprised and asked how I feeling. I said there wasn't any pain and they had been happening for the last few days. She kinda relaxed and said they were Braxton-Hicks. But she did seem, well not concerned but interested that they were so strong but perhaps it was because I am all baby and the machine is really sensitive. So she told me to keep an eye on them. If they are getting more regular and closer together, and if they are getting more intense. If they are 5 minutes apart but not intense, then I'm okay, but if they are getting more painful then I should come in. But judging from the Braxton-Hicks contractions, she thinks are starting to progress. Whoo-hoo. But in all, she was very pleased with the strip. She said it looked like a perfect strip. So there you go, no stress.
It's not like I hate being pregnant, it's been fun. And I'm not that uncomfortable - well, these last few days I have been, but it's not that bad (it's easy to complain - especially on the Internet). It's just that I want my baby now. While the attention has been fun, I didn't get pregnant to be pregnant. I got pregnant so I could have a baby. And now it's time. Gimme my baby.
Congratulations to Amanda and Steve on the birth of their second daughter! She is too cute.
