Nature's Canvas

I went to take the dog out for her nightly bathroom session. I intended to hook her up to the tether then run back inside as to not get that cold. But when I got out there, I noticed something funny in the sky. I always look up at night when I take her out. I like to see the stars. But tonight, it was different. At first, I though it was the Northern Lights. But they didn't move and it seemed to be coming out of houses. After I hooked up Deeds, I took a better look. From every house light, street light or any other light outside, a column of light was streaming up into the sky. The columns were beautiful, and the snow that was being lit up was shimmering. There was so many light columns, it was quite pretty. So needless to say, I stayed the entire time outside while Deeds, blissfully ignorant, continued to sniff around and do her business. She missed a show, and I was a little chilly.
