Sick of Snow
Well, Mark and I just finished shovelling the driveway and sidewalk and the neighbour's walk and it was a beautiful sunny, clear day. Yeah! Then a little while later, it started clouding over. No big deal. Now it's snowing, those big fluffy flakes. Boo. It's quite pretty to watch but not pretty to watch land on the sidewalk. Boo. I went for a walk a few days ago. I went where I usually pick berries, then past the quad trail and further than I ever have before. I could hear this roaring noise, I thought it was the wind through the trees but it was a calm day. So Dee Dee and I walked to see what it was. I figured it out before I got there. There is a lake in town and I could see the river on top of the hill I was standing on. I figured it must be the creek that flows from the lake to the river. Sure enough, after going down a very steep snow covered hill (not easy with a dog that wants to barrel down) and crossing the railway track, we came up on the creek. It was just over a meter wide but boy was it fast. I'm thinking I should take the camera and leave Deeds at home and take a few pictures. It's pretty. There are a lot of bull rushes. I thought Mark and I could go for that walk today. But after shovelling and now that it's snowing, I have my doubts. Plus, the Riders are playing today and I want to watch it. I really hope they win. Perhaps another day.
When we were walking, Dee Dee kept looking off to the east like she could hear or smell something. She was very intent on this one area. It was starting to freak me out, but I couldn't see anything. It was probably a rabbit, there are enough tracks out there for that. Or maybe a chicken. Who knows. This coming from a dog who enjoys sticking her face in a snow bank then bounding off to the next face wash!
P.S. Happy Birthday Julie!
