Who Who!!
My dog is tiny. Around 4 lbs I think. And we live on a ten acre plot of land. With deer and rabbits and coyotes and hawks and owls. There’s always something that would love to pick her off. Even if there’s not that much meat in her bones.
One recent evening, my husband was taking her out for a walk and he heard the telling “Whoo whoo!” He cut the walk short and went inside. I’ve seen that snowy owl only a couple times this winter and I don’t want her to fly away with my puppy!!
I’m not as worried about coyotes because they keep their distance. But an owl could be silently watching, waiting for her chance to strike. That’s why we always keep the dog in a leash. I’d love to let her run but I just don’t know if I can trust her to come back when I want her to. And I’d never do it at night anyway. Maybe this summer I can let her off leash for a bit and see what happens.
