An Evening Out

Tonight we went for supper at the house of one of the teachers from the high school. It was us and him and his wife an two daughters. They live on the lake in a log cabin. Don't be fooled, this is no ordinary log cabin. It's big, open and beautiful inside. Very nice indeed. We visited a bit and then had supper. I had made a Taco Salad from a recipe I got from Mark's mom. I really like it when she makes it and Mark does too. However, this meant I violated one of my marriage rules. Never make something that his mother makes really well. You can never do as good and even if you could, he'd never admit for fear of going against his mother. Well, I think I did a good job. Mark even had to admit that it tasted "Top notch". Everyone thought it was good too. They had second helpings and even after dessert, when we were playing Apples to Apples, one of the girls wanted an extra bowl. I was even asked for the recipe. I think that's a first for me. So I am quite pleased with myself. I'm not bragging, I'm just pleased. Anyway, I'm rather tired now. Apples to Apples is a fun game but it tired me out, that and the wine. Well, to bed with me. Maybe tomorrow I'll go blueberry picking. I heard that they have started. I never liked blueberries, I know they were always Julie's favourites so it would make sense that I don't like them. However, I have never tasted them fresh and wild. Hopefully this is the same kind of thing with fish. I used to hate eating fish but now that it's fresh, it tastes so good. Well, maybe if the berries are fresh, I will like them. One can hope. I'll keep you informed on my pickin' progress.
P.S. It started thundering when we left their house. It's a really deep thunder and it's nice to listen to. I'll sleep well tonight.
