Pickin'

It was about 3:00 am when I woke up to this hideous noise. At first I thought there was a baby outside crying. But at the end of each cry there was a screech, like a cat. I realized that there was a cat outside howling. It was the strangest sound ever. I shut the window and went back to sleep. I was hoping the Deeds might wake up and bark to shut up the cat, but she slept through it. Some watchdog.

So the roofers showed up again at an early time. Mark got up to say hi and check out their progress and I fell back asleep. When Mark came back in, he was shocked that I slept through the pounding over the bedroom. I was tired. The stupid cat woke me up too early. It is a really hot day today. The roofers kept coming down to cool off. They must just been burning! We went picking, no not berry picking, rock picking. It's not as much fun and you don't get to eat what you pick. But it is necessary. We want some dirt put down sometime soon. But we can't just have a yard full of rocks, and I mean FULL of rocks. We're not quite done yet. We both have blisters on our hands and we were getting really hot so Mark suggested that we cool down at the beach. So we went for just over a half hour. Just enough to get the body temp down. When we were driving in, there was a helicopter hovering over the airport. As we got closer, we could see that it had a tether and was lifting something off the ground. After we parked, we got out and the helicopter picked up this thing...it's hard to explain, I don't even know what it is. It was a metal circle with another smaller circle in it. It almost looked like a target. It was hanging by a bunch of wires to the helicopter. Everyone was staring and I don't know if anyone knew what this circle thing was and why a helicopter was flying it away. The last couple times we've gone to the beach, we've seen something interesting. Last time there was a family of ducks that we so tame they swam past me as I waded into the water.

So now we're home and enjoying the day once more, no raincloud in sight. And best of all, the roof should be done today! Yeah! Let it rain, do your worst, ha! I'm just glad it's all over. Now we just have to finish up the yard and I'll be happy!
