Captain's Log Supplemental

When we got here (Moose Jaw) Mark's dad wanted to show Mark something to get his opinion. He showed him the powerbox in the backyard and asked what he thought. Mark said that they must have had a short because there was a burn mark on the box. Len thought it was from lightning but it's the shorter of the two boxes and beside a rather large tree. Anyway, time passed and we forgot about it. Until last night. We were laying in bed when a huge flash lit up the room. We thought it might be lightning but there was no thunder and the flash made a buzzing noise. It did it a few times so Mark got up to investigate. Len still didn't believe him that the box was the cause of all this. Until this morning. We were all siting in the backyard enjoying a beautiful day when we heard a loud POP. Len and Mark looked at the box and it must have looked bad enough cuz Len phoned Sask Power. A guy was sent out right away. I guess the plastic cover had melted somehow and the wires were touching the metal so that's what caused the flashes. It's all fixed now but I tell ya, it sure scared me. And the Sask Power guy didn't seem too eager to open the box. Actually, when he turned the power back on and Len's fly zapper zapped back into work, he looked up and yelled, "What was that!"

Before he showed up, we were teasing Len, telling him that they would have to dig up the box and because the garden is right there, they'd have to dig it up too. And the rip out the fence. And dig out the tree. And tear down the fountain. But it's all fixed now and the most important part was that from the very beginning, Mark was right. (Or at least he thinks that's the most important part.)
