Mmm...supper

Today, we took our new truck, yes our new truck out to Naosap Lake. The first spot we stopped at, we, well Mark, caught two pickerel! I caught some Jack. I did manage to catch one pickerel but he was too small, next year. We moved on and caught some more jack. Then we went back to that first spot and caught jack after jack. Mark caught a big one that he almost kept. But we decided that we had enough jack in the freezer. So we boated over to the filleting station and Mark cleaned the fish. The first one was a little shaky but he got the hang of it after that. Not bad for his first time. I took some pictures of Mark and the fish and a big pelican that flew beside us. The eagle was too far for a picture again. In one spot we were fishing, a pelican was going along the shore looking for fish. I just caught a jack and I was going to kill it and throw it over to the pelican, hey, he's not choosy, but just as I was about to take the hook out of his mouth, he wiggled out, hook and all. Sorry Pelican, I tried. Oh well, we could see him scooping out something from the water. It was so quiet on the water. I didn't see any other boats around, one helicopter, but no boats. It was a hot day. My arms burned slightly where the sunscreen didn't get spread. I can actually see exactly where I missed. I was wearing a tee-shirt so it's quite noticeable. Oh well, it'll be a nice tan in no time. The ride back to the shore was really bumpy. I'm glad we left Dee Dee at home this time. It was rough. Not as bad as Athapap. Mark said they caught air. It was still really choppy. I was glad to get back in the truck. When he finally came back to shore, there were a few people swimming on the shore. One guy helped us put the boat back on the trailer. I'm still not too good at that.
So, anyway, yes, we bought a truck. It's a 2001 Chevy Silverado regular cab with a spray-in liner. Mark seems quite happy about it. I have a few pictures of it that I'll post soon, I just have to fix them up a little before I can post them. Soon. Well, until then, I posted a picture of supper tonight. It's just the thicker bits. The rest is on the cutting board waiting for it's time to fry. It was a good supper. If my parents could see me now! We always have rice with out fish so that makes my favourite meal...fish and rice. I used to hate that. My parents always ate it when I was away because I wouldn't miss a good meal. Now look at me. Well, a little butter and lemon pepper spice makes a big difference. Not to mention that the fish came out of the lake a few hours before supper!
Tomorrow is Marks' birthday. It looks like he might go fishing with some of his buddies. Good, he'll like that. I was going to make lasagna but I don't think I will now. I'll make him some cookies and that will be good enough. He already got his birthday present so he should be set. Well, I think that's it for tonight's post. It was a little long again, sorry. I had a lot to say this time. Have a good weekend everyone and I hope everyone is enjoying their summer as much as we are.
